Careers in KPO


Knowledge Process Outsourcing, popularly known as KPO, is a form of outsourcing in which knowledge related data is processed by trained professions. Mostly, the work is done in offshore locations away from the country, to save cost. KPO is one of the fastest growing career options in India, because of availability of highly skilled manpower, cost savings, operational efficiencies, expansion of existing relationships, excellent quality, and extensive growth in the Indian outsourcing market. According to a survey conducted by National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM), KPO is expected to grow from $1.2 billion in 2003 to $17 billion by 2013-14. To make a career in this field, one must have the aptitude for outsourcing data and information precisely. He/She should have good communication skills, confidence, and proficiency in English. The nature of work of KPOs is different then BPO.

Course Details
There are no institution who are providing diploma or degree in KPO education. A few institutes have come up with short-term online certificate courses and training programs at the diploma level. The purpose of such institutes is to train the professionals to excel in this field. To be eligible for the courses, the aspirant should be a graduate in any field, from a recognized university. People, with science and commerce  background, have a better chance to excel in the KPO industry simply because of their research and analytical abilities. Even doctors, management personals, engineers, teachers, lawyers, chartered accountants, economists, architects, and journalists can successfully enter the field of KPO.

Career Prospects
Due to the rapid growth in the KPO industry, more and more people in India are seeking a career in this field. After completing a relevant course in the field, one can work with a KPO firm in the field of advanced web applications, research and development, financial consultancy and services, , business and market research, legal services, business and technical analysis training and consultancy, data analytics, etc. After gaining adequate experience in India, one can search opportunities in foreign countries as well.

Ekcelon institute, based in Bangalore, is offering courses in KPO. Other than this, there are numerous other institutes that offer training and certification courses in major metropolitan cities throughout India to pursue a career in KPO.

Remuneration
One of the main reasons for the constant increase in growth of KPO industry in India is the attractive salary packages offered. As a fresher, one can earn anywhere between Rs. 12,000 and Rs. 15,000 per month. Well experienced professionals in this field can earn Rs. 5,00,000 to Rs. 6,00,000 per annum.
