Careers In Arts

Arts is one of the traditional and most popular streams, which offers a plethora of career prospects. The arts stream is broadly categorized into fine arts, humanities, visual arts, and performing arts. Arts encompass literature, history, philosophy, ancient and modern languages, visual and performing arts (including music), law, religion, and several more subjects The capability of good communication, precise writing, and understanding of the subject is always an advantage for individuals who want to make a career in the field of arts.  

Course Details
Most of the subjects of humanities are offered at graduate and postgraduate levels in colleges and universities. One can go for research programs after completing the relevant qualification. Most of the 10+2 students can get admission in arts course, except in some special arts course. A graduate is eligible for applying to postgraduate courses. Other than this certificate, undergraduate diploma, diploma, vocational, job-oriented courses are conducted in some fields related to performing arts at various leading institutes. Students are generally given theoretical knowledge in all arts programs. However, there are many subjects that demand practical exposure as well, such as performing arts.

Career Prospects
With a degree in arts, one can build a career in the following fields - writing, research, teaching, public relations, policy research and analysis, internal communications, program planning, administration, information, and management. Other career options are available in the field of  agriculture, anthropology, archaeology, , journalism,  NGO, geography, industrial relation, liberal arts, library science, philosophy, psychology, research assistance, social work, and many more. Recruitment can be explored in museums, galleries, advertising agencies, schools, magazines, newspapers, and movie studios.

Remuneration
Remuneration of arts graduates purely depends upon the nature of the work and the personal talent. The salary package can also vary according to the college/university from where they have graduated. However, in general, arts students can start earning anywhere between Rs. 12,000 - Rs. 15,000 at earlier stages.
