Careers in Economics

The study of economics analyzes the consumption and distribution of goods, production and services. The field of economics is very vast and is not restricted to just business finance, and government; but to war, religion, education, crime, health, family, politics, social institutions and science, as well.

Economics generally explain about the economic condition of a country and the consumption power of its citizen. The study of economics includes practical knowledge company law and income tax, practical knowledge of auditing and financial accounting, insights into the functioning of economies

Basic Eligibility

UG:
For admission in a bachelor’s degree, the candidate must have passed the 10+2 examination from a recognized board.

PG:
For admission in master's degree in economics a candidate must have completed his/her graduation in any stream. The duration for master's degree is 2 years.

Job Prospects

Good number of job opportunities are available to commerce graduates.  An economics graduate can work in transport, communications, manufacturing, banking, investment, insurance, and retailing industries, as well as in consulting, government agencies, and charitable organizations.

An economic grdaute can find ample work opportunities in public sector as well as private sector. Various international organizations like the World Bank and the International Labor Organization offer good job opportunities to well-known economists.

Pay Package :-

In government sectors economists are getting Rs. 9,000 to 12,000 per month as assistants while a experienced and seniors have a average salary of  Rs. 25,000 per month.

In colleges and universities, economics faculties are earning somewhere in between Rs. 12,000 to 20,000 per month depending on their seniority and private sectors. In private sector good pay packages are available.
