Careers in Botany

Botany is a science subject and essentially deals with scientific study of plant life and development. The study of botany focuses on the plants along with their structures, growth, use, and process of all forms of plant life-their evolution, ageing, decaying and death.  Botany includes a wide variety of subjects which study algae, fungi, plants, growth, diseases, metabolism and structure between different groups.

The person who does study botany is known as a botanist. The functions of a botanist involves studying plant life as well as finding possible solutions to forestry and agricultural problems.

Botanists deal with agriculture, hydroponics, artificial environments, and various other interesting areas of research. Hence, a career in botany may be challenging as well as highly rewarding.

Basic Eligibility

For admission into bachelor’s degree program a student must pass 10+2 in science stream with biology as the subject and minimum of 50% marks from any recognized board. The duration of the program is of 3 years.
For admission into master’s degree program a student must have a bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject. The duration of the program is of 2 years.
