Space Science & Technology
Space science or Space Technology
is the branch of science that deals with the study of the Universe,
"excluding the Earth" and "outside the Earth's atmosphere".
The various sub-branches of Space Science are Astrophysics, Astronomy, Cosmology,
Stellar Science and Planetary Science etc.
In India, Indian Institute of
Space Science and Technology (IIST) offers bachelors and masters courses in
space science and related fields. Apart from IIST few other institutes
including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) also offer specialization
programs (M.Tech) in Astrophysics, Space Technology, Aerospace engineering etc.
Eligibility
The basic eligibility criteria is
10+2 (with Physics, Chemistry and Maths). There are many BE/BTech program in Space
science of four years duration. The selection is generally made on the basis of
entrance tests (e.g. IITJEE, AIEEE, etc.) conducted at both national and state
level.
Job Prospects
Engineers with space science or
technology qualification can be absorbed in Indian Space Research Organization
