Careers in Agricultural Engineering

Agricultural Engineering solve problems relating to sustainable agricultural production. An Agricultural Engineer may perform functions like planning, supervising and managing the building of dairy effluent schemes, drainage, flood and water control systems, irrigation,  perform environmental impact assessments and interpret research results and implement relevant practices.

Some other specialization available to agricultural engineers are system and machinery design; food and bioprocess engineering and structures and environmental science. Agricultural Engineers discover the ways to conserve soil and water and to improve the processing of agricultural products.

Eligibility

A candidate aspiring for admission in agricultural engineering must complete his/her 10+2 Science with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and/or Biology.

For M.tech in agricultural engineering a person should be graduate (B.tech, BE) in same discipline.

Career Prospects

Agricultural Engineering  has excellent career opportunities for engineering graduates in India. Agricultural Engineers can join manufacturing industries and also opt for water resource management, forestry, mining and rehabilitation, food processing, urban and rural development, machine development and many more. Agricultural engineers can also work in NGOs under various schemes and projects.

There are good opportunities in private sector too. Other than this an agricultural engineer can start his own business.
